How to Select a Push Rod
Matching rod diameter, line size and distance to travel can be a black art. Here are some guidelines for selecting the right push rod and transmitter combination to fit the job you need to do. Keep in mind that the distance you will be able to push the transmitter will depend on several interacting factors:
  • Stiffer rods (larger diameters) will push further, but will be limited by the friction of curves and bends
     in the line

  • More flexible rods (smaller diameters) will go around bends easier, but tend to "fold up" in larger lines
  • A heavier transmitter (FMJ or FV) requires a stiffer rod due to increased friction
Your experience is the best guide here, but we'll be glad to help you decide.  Just give us a call!
